Fundraising

The club needs to raise about £10,000 a year just to keep going. We do this through sponsored rides, shopping centre collections and applying for grants. We also receive donations from a individuals, groups and local businesses.

Why do we need to raise so much each year?

We pay for the tandems to be cleaned and maintained to a very high standard, every time they are used. This reduces wear and tear, but parts still need replacing. We also have a programme of improvements to the tandems – for example, we have recently improved the gearing on all the tandems and fitted V-brakes, which offer better braking.

Other costs include insurance, heating costs for the workshop (to dry out the tandems and keep them in tip-top condition) and general running costs.
